UN/ICE by Dream Lab — E-commerce website

We built the e-commerce website for the launch of UN/ICE, an ice cream brand from Nakazakicho pastry shop hannoc. Using designs and copy supplied by the client, we handled Shopify development and project direction. Within a production window of approximately six weeks, we drew on the existing e-commerce setup while planning for easy updates after launch.

Build quickly on an established Shopify foundation.

We built the store on Shopify and aligned its operation with the existing hannoc store to make it familiar for both customers and staff. With a short schedule, we based development on hannoc's proven code rather than starting from scratch. Reusing a familiar setup supported both a timely launch and straightforward operation.

Keep a first e-commerce project clear and manageable.

On a short schedule, waiting for every detail to be finalised can delay production. We built confirmed sections while reviewing copy and product information in parallel. Breaking the work into smaller cycles of production, review and revision kept the project moving. We also brought review items together in one place so everyone could see what was confirmed and what remained open. Planning communication and information management was as important as planning the build.

Make updates straightforward after launch.

An online store needs ongoing product and content updates. We built routine updates so the client could handle as much as possible independently and provided instructions for more complex operations. Aligning the setup with hannoc was part of this approach. Our aim was a site the team could operate themselves, with consideration for their internal workflows as well as the website interface.

An online store to support a new brand.

The key was to adapt an existing setup and operational knowledge to the new brand, rather than build everything from scratch within a short timeframe.
